Sanctioned by the International Federation, CPISRA (Cerebral Palsy International Sports and Recreation Association), this event will be hosted by PCAND (Paralisia Cerebral-Associação Nacional de Desporto), and is one of the scheduled events of Maia - European City of Sports 2014. The EURO FOOTBALL 7-A-SIDE MAIA 2014 will have the support of IPDJ (Instituto Português do Desporto e da Juventude), of the FPDD (Federação Portuguesa de Desporto para Pessoas com Deficiência), Maia’s Town Hall and Associação de Futebol do Porto (Porto’s Football Association).
EURO FOOTBALL 7-A-SIDE MAIA 2014 will gather some of the best European football 7-a-side teams, ensuring a competitive sports event, faithful to the values and principles that should guide high-level sports.
The participating teams are from Portugal, Denmark, England, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Russia, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Ukraine. Notice that Russia presently holds both the Paralympic Champion and World Champion titles in this sport.
The kick-off will take place on the 23rd July, 2014, at 20h00, in the match between Portugal – England, after the Opening Ceremony (18h00), to be held at the main venue - Estádio Municipal Dr. José Vieira de Carvalho. The second match of the Portuguese National Team will happen at 20h00, on the 25th July, 2014, at the same stadium, as well as the Finals, that will be held there, on the 2nd August, at 18h00.
The competition will also take place at the Estádio Municipal Dr. Costa Lima (Second Venue), and both Estádio Municipal de Pedrouços and Estádio Municipal de Cutamas will be used for the Training Sessions.
